FAQ & Info

Below are answers to some of the questions I receive most often, loosely organized in order of frequency. If you have any questions not addressed on this page, or would like more details or information, feel free to reach out to me through the contact page.

Did you receive my order?
99 times out of 100, I did receive your order if you placed it fully and reached the confirmation page/received an order confirmation email.
If you did NOT receive a confirmation email, please provide your order number so I can check if it has been received. Chances are there may have been a rare backend error, there was a typo in the provided email, or it was sent to your spam folder for some reason.

When will my order ship?
When all of your items are ready and I am able to drop them off at the post office.
Every item description has an estimated processing time (how long it takes me to make each item, depending on a number of factors), and estimated delivery time (how long it takes USPS to deliver a package after it has been shipped). Please take note of delivery/processing times listed in each item’s description, as well as relevant disclaimers. Your order will likely ship within that estimated time, but please be aware that these are only estimates, and actual times may be shorter or longer.

How will I know my order has shipped?
You will receive a shipping confirmation at the email you provided during checkout. Within that email will be a tracking number so you can follow its progress.

My package is lost/wasn't delivered, what should I do?
If—due to some error on my part—your package is sent to the wrong address, I will send a replacement at no charge. If an incorrect address was provided during checkout, please reach out to me as soon as possible after ordering so I can send to the correct address. If the error is caught after the item has shipped, then a package interception can be attempted (though not guaranteed) for a $15 fee. The fee will only be charged (by USPS, not by me) if the interception is successful. If the package is delivered to the provided (incorrect) address, or is lost in transit by USPS,  then it cannot be recovered. I will do my best to arrange a replacement or partial refund on a case by case basis.
Once a package has been dropped off at the post office, it is completely out of my hands. I cannot control its progress or affect where it ends up or how quickly it moves. Sometimes USPS messes up and packages are delayed or get lost. This is very rare, but when it does happen, USPS is generally quite terrible at recovering these packages. While there is nothing I can do to get it back, I can offer replacements or partial refunds on a case by case basis.
I cannot be responsible for undelivered packages due to an incorrectly provided address. If the package is returned to me, I will reach out for an alternate address and resend it once free of charge. Any further issues will require additional payment for shipping costs.

Can you alter/repair an item I bought?
Alterations to purchased items may be possible depending on the change/item in question. Please carefully review sizing and dimension details in item descriptions, and if you are unsure or have questions related to anything, reach out to me through the contact page before placing your order.
Custom measurements can be requested in the order notes if need be.
Items that have been damaged over time may be eligible for repairs depending on the nature of the damage and the item in question.
Depending on availability, replacement parts can be sent for an additional shipping charge (especially for international orders).

Can I get a refund/exchange on an order?
For items damaged in transit, I can exchange or for a new item (either the same or a different item of equal value). If damaged after delivery, replacement/exchange/repair depends on the nature of the damage.
If you are not happy with an item after receiving it and it has not been damaged, an equivalent exchange or partial refund (minus shipping cost and associated fees) may be possible.
For a refund, the item must be shipped to me (intact/in original condition) within 30 days, and the refund will only be issued after I can confirm receipt of the package.
Items damaged after delivery and wear are not eligible for refunds.

I placed a shop order and also requested a Custom Order/placed a second order later. Can you ship them together?
Orders placed separately will be fulfilled separately by default unless it is convenient for them to be combined. Requests to combine orders are of course acceptable, but may not always be possible—this depends on how detailed the custom order is, how long it takes to work out details, whether or not I need to order materials for specific items, etc.
If the shop order is placed before the Custom Order request is submitted, the orders will likely not be combined. If the custom order is placed first, you can request a shop item to be included with that order and I’ll charge its regular price as part of the custom order.

Is this item hypoallergenic?
That depends! I try my best to list all materials used in each piece with as much detail as possible, down to specific metals and alloys or other materials present. I don’t always have access to that information if the material was sourced from a supplier that doesn’t provide it. I try to be transparent about this in product listings; if the materials litsted are vague, it’s because that’s all the information I have available.
Because I work with many different metals and deal a lot with sanding, cutting, tumbler polishing, and sharing tools between projects, there is always risk of cross contamination from dust, metal shavings, and other particulates. If you have a strong allergy to a specific metal or are unsure about a piece, please reach out to me through the contact page (preferrably before placing an order) and I will try to suggest possible alternatives. Depending on the material, sometimes these alternatives will require a custom order or separate invoice due to higher material costs.

General Info

Custom Orders
For everything from design changes to existing items (not covered by the item’s options), to discontinued items you saw on my instagram or my old shop, to unique items/fanart costume pieces/other stuff, you can place a custom order. More details on what I need to get started and what is possible for me to do can be found on the Custom Order page. Please take into account past pieces/currently available items for an idea of what’s possible for me. There are certain materials I’ve never used, certain processes I’m not familiar with, and tools I don’t have access to, so please keep that in mind.

Image Licensing
In general I do not give my permission to freely alter and/or use any of my images for commercial, artistic, or personal use without my express consent and some agreement for credit and compensation in return. Please do not use any of my images for any reason (merchandising, tattoo designs, graphic design, etc) without contacting me first. I won't charge a fee for tattoo designs but I would like to give my permission first if possible.

I try to be chill about this, so if you’d like to use an image please reach out to me through the contact page and I’ll let you know what I’m comfortable with. Let me know your intended use for the image and I will write up a basic licensing agreement and determine an appropriate fee.

Metal Info
Specific materials for each item will be listed in their descriptions, but I do operate by some general rules/defaults.

- Most of my chainmail pieces are made with Bright Aluminum unless otherwise specified. Aluminum is lightweight, recyclable, easy to clean, and significantly resistant to tarnishing. It does not rust and can withstand constant exposure to water and common cleaning products. It is study enough for frequent daily use, but may not be suitable for heavy duty work tasks. Aluminum rings may become slightly cloudy over time, but can be easily cleaned and restored to shine with mild soap and water.

- Pewter pieces are made with a lead-free pewter alloy (97LF) that is 97% Tin, 2.5% Bismuth, and 0.5% Copper. All pewter pieces are cast, which means they are formed from molten metal poured into petrobond (sand) or silicone molds. Most of my pewter pieces are chemically oxidized to give them a blackwash. If you want to minimize or remove this oxide layer, you can scrub it away very easily with a toothbrush & soap, or by using steel wool or a wire brush. Pewter does oxidize naturally over time, and can be cleaned by gently scrubbing the oxide layer off (with or without soap and water).

- Some chainmail pieces or specific elements (clasps, chains, etc.) are made with Stainless Steel. Steel is significantly heavier than aluminum, much more durable, and significantly tarnish resistant as well. Certain steel weaves can withstand some heavy duty work tasks, though most items I make are meant to be decorative. Steel rings may become slightly cloudy over time. Some shine can be restored with soap and water, but polishing, tumbling, or using a wire brush is recommended for the best result.

- Brass pieces are slightly heavier/more durable than aluminum but no quite as heavy as steel. Without protective coating, brass tarnishes very easily and is not as easy to clean as aluminum. tumble polishing or using cleaners like Brasso are recommended to remove tarnish. I coat my brass pieces with a clear protective that is highly resistant to tarnishing and will hold up over time so long as it does not come into contact with alcohol, acetone, or other abrasive/stripping solvents.
